Case Study

The programme design reflects the needs of employers in the sector and enjoys close links with the British Surfing Association. Students study a mix of vocational and academic disciplines ranging from lifeguarding to making sense of a balance sheet. In the third year, students work in teams to develop and market new products which are displayed at a trade show attended by employers from the sector.
Graduates from the course are well prepared for management careers in the surfing industry. The degree also provides a route into other careers for which any science degree may be appropriate.
A significant number of graduates have progressed to higher degrees, and many have progressed to graduate positions such as marketing managers, brand managers, retail managers and distributors with companies such as Quiksilver, Billabong, Gul and the British Surfing Association.
