Employer Networking Events

Employer engagement network event, City of Bristol College

“This was a unique and original event. Employers and students participated and enjoyed spending time together”.
Caroline McGrath, Lecturer, City of Bristol College

We organised an early evening networking event for students and employers called 'Shape the Future'. Employers were invited from across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, including teachers, nursery nurses and early years practitioners. Students were from playwork, early childhood studies and early years sector endorsed foundation degrees. We also invited a professional story teller, a reactive art therapist and invcluded live ukeule music features. It was an opportunity to be creative while enjoying connectivity with employers and students.

Tips

Choose the time of year carefully and try to delegate more of the organisation to students

Resources

  • Financial: Funding was required; we accessed some of this from widening participation funds
  • Time: Time was allocated equating to the delivery of one module in a semester
