Job Description

Due to the continued growth of the business, Pendennis Shipyard is looking to develop 2 trainee project managers to enable future growth and succession planning.

Job Description

This will be the fifth in take for this programme and provides the successful candidates with a comprehensive introduction to project management at Pendennis.

Objectives (Year One):

  • To gain a full overview and understanding of Pendennis Superyachts
  • Complete a 6 week block in each of the six trade areas plus one month in Finance/ Administration
  • Complete five months with one of the experienced project managers working on either new build or refurbishment projects
  • Assist on projects where required
  • Review current project management practices
  • Make recommendations for changes to current project management practices

Nature of work undertaken:

It is envisaged that the candidates will move around the organisation in a two year structured programme, completing various projects during this time.  The successful graduates will initially ‘shadow’ various staff across differing departments, to develop an understanding of the company as a whole. You will gain an understanding of the processes used to develop a Worldclass Superyacht.  If successful, the graduate can expect to progress into the Senior Management team in time.

Personal skills:

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree level qualification in Naval Architecture, mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, organised, reliable and flexible approach
  • Project focused
