Job Description

Plessey Semiconductors Ltd is a British high-tech company operating in the field of compound semiconductors utilising its proprietary GaN-on-Silicon technology to develop light emitting diodes (LEDs) for a range of applications in worldwide markets. We are currently working on ground breaking MicroLED technology to enable Plessey’s high-brightness displays to power the next generation of smart-glasses and wearable display applications.

Working within the Marketing department, there are two exciting opportunities for bright and ambitious individuals to work for a large, manufacturer in Plymouth to provide marketing support across the business.

The roles will report to the Marketing Manager, responsible for implementing an effective marketing and communications plan to support the business requirements. The first role is a Marketing Graduate position. If you already have 2 years + previous and relevant marketing experience in a similar sized organisation you may be interested in our Marketing Executive role. 

The positions are based at our high tech manufacturing site in Plymouth, working 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday - 8am to 4.30pm, with an hour for lunch.  Some occasional travel will be required to support the sales and marketing team at events throughout the year.

Marketing Graduate

Main responsibilities include:

  •   Responsible for assisting and supporting the Marketing Manager and Graphic Designer with the co-ordination of design and marketing activities including:
    • Assist in the creation of images for media releases and media campaigns including social media
    • Assist and support the creation of graphical and content elements for internal and external Power Point presentations to support the business with key customers and stakeholders
    • Support design creation of images for printed literature including product catalogues, flyers, event literature and posters.
    • Assist with the design creation for events, tradeshows and exhibitions
    • Assist with the design creation of images for the company website
    • Develop ideas and solutions in line with briefing
    • Develop relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external
    • Support Marketing Manager and marketing team with assistance and support across all marketing activities when required
    • Support Marketing Manager in delivery additional marketing activities when required.

Essential Requirements:

  • A degree in graphic design or marketing communications or related discipline
  • Proven experience with the following software, Indesign, Illustrator or Photoshop, 3D rendering and web based graphic tools
  • Competent with IT applications including Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word, Power Point and ExCel
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to take technical information and turn it into content that non-techies will understand
  • Creative thinking and  idea generation with excellent proof reading skills and an eye for fine detail
  • Knowledge of the marketing mix and ability to support marketing team with marketing activities when required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Highly organised with the ability to multi-task and work calmly under pressure
  • Flexible approach with a ‘can do’ attitude and excellent team working skills
  • Ability to work closely with product teams, engineers and external marketing resources and media partners to achieve tight deadlines.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Own transport and full driving licence

 

Marketing Executive

Main responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the implementation of  all aspects of the yearly marketing strategy
  • Responsible for assisting with the co-ordination of all marketing activity including:
    • Co-ordination, preparation and drafting of media releases/ blogs/ technical papers/ product datasheets and other supporting collateral
    • Organisation, preparation and execution of content updates across the digital marketing channels including the external website/ email newsletters/ social media/ internal intranet system ensuring current news content
    • Co-ordinating all internal marketing communications
    • Co-ordinate logistics for shows/ events and exhibitions with the support of the Marketing Manager
    • Assist with the co-ordination, preparation and delivery of presentation material for the Business Development team
    • Work closely with in-house design team to create marketing materials such as brochures/ presentation elements/ adverts etc.
    • Liaise with external printers to deliver marketing collateral and materials for shows/ events and exhibitions within budget
    • Maintain an accurate record of brand plans/ event plans/ media release schedules and budgets associated with all marketing activities
    • Develop relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external
    • Support Marketing Manager in delivery additional agreed activities
