Child Care Solicitor

Job Description

We are a busy solicitors firm with a number of departments including; Family, Education, Wills and Probate, Employment, Regulatory and Conveyancing departments.  Currently we have three offices in Bristol and Bath. The firm has a Legal Aid franchise and carries out work under the Legal Aid scheme as well acting for clients on a private basis.

Due to further expansion and an increase in new client inquires another exciting opportunity has arisen within our Family Department. We are seeking to appoint a full time newly qualified or experienced Child Care  Solicitor to join Watkins Solicitors. Continual training is very much supported by the firm. The firm embraces new technology to assist with work.

  1. Candidate should have experience in all aspects of child care work and undertake advocacy in Family Court. Cases will be funded by legal aid and privately funded. The role includes providing a range of legal support in particular to Children’s Services, advising on care proceedings, adoption, drafting legal documentation and providing clear and concise advice. You may from time to time be asked to take on challenges outside your field of expertise. 
  2. The successful candidate will carry out a range of public law children cases and clients will mainly be funded under the legal aid scheme.  Children Panel accreditation whilst advantageous is not essential. Should the candidate currently not be on the Children Panel, the firm would support accreditation.

The successful candidates will initially be based at our Fishponds branch, but may be required to attend other branches on occasion. Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm. If candidates would prefer to be based at other offices this may accommodated.  Candidates should have a valid practising certificate.

The salary will be highly competitive commensurate with experience and qualification.
