Job Description

The University of Exeter is seeking a Graduate Digital Learning Developers in the College of Social Sciences and International Studies. This Enhance Project role is to support the translation of existing face to face and blended learning course content into the online learning environment. This 23 month role is being recruited through the Graduate Business Partnership scheme. This role will be based in the workplace on Streatham Campus at the University of Exeter.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Main Purpose of Role
As a Graduate Digital Learning Developer, you will play an important role in enabling the university to continue to deliver high quality teaching, resources and support to its students, during these unique times. 
  
Working in College-focused teams alongside Senior Digital Learning Developers and members of the Technology Enhanced Learning and Academic Development teams, you will help the university to translate existing face to face, as well as blended learning course content into the online learning environment. You will also support the user research process and the further development, as well as quality assurance of these online materials, based on feedback.  
 
This role involves collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders from a range of disciplines, including academic and professional services colleagues, to promote the opportunities of the online learning environment through a comprehensive programme of training. You will support the use of features and functionality within a range of Learning Technologies, as well as share best practice.
 
Duties and Responsibilities  
  • Support the transition of programmes into blended formats, for example, through adding material into ELE templates, sourcing materials, translating existing or new teaching into online resources, editing transcripts
  • Undertake quality review of modules and improvement of existing blended formats on request.
  • Act as a first point of call for all queries from academics and resolve basic requests relating to blended or online delivery
  • Seek solutions to blended / online delivery requests from academic staff through utilising available resources and contacts
  • Prepare online resources and guidance documents
  • Support the development of academic digital expertise, including creating guidance and direct support for use of new digital tools used in teaching
  • Capture and share examples of best practice
  • Contribute to improvement of existing blended formats and provide feedback
  •  Involvement with student engagement projects (e.g. analysing survey feedback, running student digital training, developing ELE pages)
  • Support the development and piloting of new teaching approaches and systems
  • Complete any training as required by Line Management and TEL
  • Provide other general assistance within the college as appropriate to the grade and as required.

In the first week of work you will undertake training to prepare you for the role. You will be joining a large group of other graduates also undertaking the same role. Plus GBPs are offered a ‘How to Make the Most of your Internship’ introductory session, bespoke mentoring, work shadow and career consultancy opportunities, through the Internships Team.

The university offers extensive support to staff, including a structured Professional Development Review and Wellbeing Service, plus GBPs are offered 1:1 support from the Internships Team and regular 1:1 meetings with their line manager.

A graduate from a UK University in last 3 years

GBP Scheme Requirements
  • To be eligible to apply and undertake a GBP role the graduate must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Achieved* (or about to achieve) a full undergraduate degree (or Masters or PhD).
  • Graduated in the UK within the last 3 years of your most recent degree (we will consider extenuating circumstances of potential applicants that may have prevented them from undertaking a graduate role within 3 years of graduation).* Please see above for additional requirements
  • Attended a British university (or spent time studying at a UK university through ERASMUS)

  • Applicants cannot undertake another GBP role if the contract length in total exceeds the maximum duration of 23 months working as a GBP.
To undertake a GBP role applicants must achieve their degree. In the unlikely scenario where a degree is not awarded, the GBP hours may be reduced to 15hrs a week (for undergraduates) or 6hrs a week (for postgraduates) to enable to the graduand the capacity to successfully complete their degree. If the graduand fails their degree the GBP role will end early.
