Job Description

STEM Graduates into Business are pleased to be adverting a vacancy for a recent graduate (within last 3 years) with a degree in computer science or similar, to work with Rowe IT. They are seeking a recent graduate with a good degree in a Computing or science discipline, with a passion for creating great solutions. With the help of their experienced team, you will have the opportunity to grow your skills and become an awesome software engineer, using cutting edge technologies and practices. 

Although advertised initially as a 12-month internship, Rowe IT is keen to offer a permanent contract to the right person.

You will be working as part of a multi-skilled team to deliver solutions to clients predominantly based in the South West but potentially elsewhere. The role will be hands-on, involved in the design and development of either front end interfaces and/or back end services for our projects.

You should be a team player; comfortable collaborating and operating in a dynamic customer-facing environment. A growth mindset and the ability to think creatively is essential.

Required Skills:
• JavaScript (including experience with libraries such as JQuery), HTML5, CSS3
• At least one back-end object-orientated language (e.g. Java, C#, C++)
• Good communication skills

Desired Skills:
• Typescript (e.g. Angular)
• Java (ideally with Spring)
• AWS, Azure or GCP
• Software Design patterns
• Automated Testing
• Agile, Scrum
• Restful web service experience

This role is being advertised as part of the STEM Graduates into Business project, a European Regional Development Funded project delivered by the University of Plymouth Careers Service. Its aim is to increase the number of paid internships available to recent graduates with small and medium-sized enterprises based in Devon. Funded until spring 2021, the project should produce 80 internships with 80 separate employers across the county. 
By providing support and funding to the SMEs, it is hoped that a cohort of graduate employing SMEs will be created which will continue to employ graduates beyond the life of the project.
