Export Bookseller, Mallory International, have an exciting opportunity for a new International Account Manager to join their team. You will drive sales across European markets and deliver high standards of service to key accounts using excellent communication skills, particularly in French speaking and writing, to promote long-lasting partnerships. Training will be provided plus the opportunity to travel across Europe and Africa for customer liaison and business development. This is a full-time, permanent role which is part of the Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) Scheme.
Purpose of Role
As well as performing the core job as laid out below, the International Account Manager will help the company achieve growth and meet the overall sales targets for francophone markets by expanding Mallory’s customer base and ensuring its strong presence and high level of service.
The skill sets outlined below should be seen in the context of this objective. It should be emphasized that we do not expect staff to arrive with all, or any, of the specific knowledge set out, and attitude and approach, and a sense of involvement, along with initiative and learning skills, are more important than experience.
Main Areas of Work and Responsibility
- To handle all aspects of quotation and supply to designated anglophone and francophone tertiary level and business customers.
- To handle invoicing and export documentation.
- To ensure that all paperwork, both administrative and financial, required for customers and projects, is produced accurately and to time.
- To liaise with the Company’s local representatives to optimize customer service.
- To liaise with customer on all aspects of the order (handling, timing, packing requirements etc.)
- To build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by connecting with them and understanding their needs.
- To assist colleagues with requirements and requests related to francophone markets.
- To engage in regular travel to develop business within francophone territories, particularly in Europe and Africa. Reports should be recorded and analysed in line with the companies’ procedures.
- To liaise effectively with Mallory’s local representative network, where relevant, and ensure that local accounts are up to date.
Mallory International employs 30 members of staff and is divided into two sales departments, Schools and Academic, as well as Service part of the company: Systems, Finance, and the Warehouse. Each sales department is headed by a manager who specialises in the relevant area of expertise, and who reports to the Directors, who are responsible for providing the overall leadership of the company. There are frequent discussions with staff to ensure an equable allocation of workload.
The above lists are not comprehensive. In a small business it is reasonable for all staff, at all levels of responsibility, to contribute as required to the general operation of the business, and this may involve a wide range of other tasks. The core activities of the job are, however, as above.
This post is a permanent role, 37.5 hours per week, Mon to Fri.
Training and Development Opportunities
We will provide one-to-one training within the team as well as from the line-manager and Directors.
We also arrange for accompanied trips overseas to train the candidate to meet prospective and existing customers and develop business in that market.
As you develop the required skills and experience, you will be able to manage the customer activity in designated countries and territories as well as implementing the strategic plan for that area.
Level of Support
There are weekly team meetings, and regular one-to-one coaching meetings with the line-manager. The candidate’s training program will be facilitated by a small group of senior staff.

Degree and Attainment
- You must have obtained a degree from a UK based University within the last 3 years
- Knowledge of book trade, educational resource research tools, and web resources (training given).
- Competence in in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Access, Teams and Word.
- Excellent communication skills for establishing relationships with customers and suppliers, both in person, and across all media.
- A high level of organizational and planning capabilities, managing time, establishing priorities.
- Knowledge of other export documentation (both on and off the job training given).
- Excellent level of French speaking and writing
