Feature in our Graduate Scheme Directory!

The south west is home to companies large and small, giving recent graduates a plethora of choice.

Last autumn we produced our first SW Graduate Scheme Directory to highlight the opportunities available to graduates.

We're now updating the Directory and welcome entries from companies that offer graduate schemes. Entries are free of charge as part of our commitment to serving south west businesses and graduates.

To request an entry for your company, please contact us

New Business Resources

With our strong partnerships and campus links, we're ideally placed to hear about great opportunities for businesses.

We dont want to keep this to ourselves so we've created a new business resources section on our website.

Check it out for information about how to tap into student and graduate talent, training and networking events and the launch of funding and grants for south west companies.

Out and About...

Last month was a busy one for us, attending various events to support both students and businesses in our region.

Thanks to the University Centre at South Devon College for inviting us again this year to speak to their students on their results day.

We also attended the Heart of the South West LEPs business workshop looking at productivity - and retaining and attracting graduate talent in the region is clearly a key element of business innovation and growth.

And we networked our socks off in the sunshine at the University of Exeter's Vice Chancellor's garden party. (We admit it's not all hard work.)

Testimonials and Case Studies

We love hearing from you when you recruit one of our grads - and even when you don't but you know we did a good job at getting your role great visibility. Here are a couple of recent quotes from employers about Gradsouthwest:

"[Gradsouthwest were] Very quick to respond to our request for assistance and vacancies are quick to go live." INTERNATIONAL RECRUITER, HAMPSHIRE

"Good access to well qualified candidates, cost effective way to advertise. Site is good for our needs currently, which is occasional graduate recruitment (we are a small company of 10 employees)." MATT, SME RECRUITER IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE WHO SUCCESSFULLY HIRED A GRADUATE THROUGH GRADSOUTHWEST

If you want to say something nice about us do get in touch so we can promote both your company and Gradsouthwest with your Case Study.

We also want you to get in touch if things didn't go so well... we really do care and want to continually improve our service.

Mentors Needed!

The University of Exeter is excited to announce the expansion of their Career Mentor Scheme.

Now in its 10th year, the Career Mentor Scheme is a popular employability programme which matches current Exeter students or graduates with experienced professionals, for one-to-one support, sector insight and advice for up to 6 months. Mentors come from a range of different sectors, based both across the UK and internationally, who volunteer to mentor a student interested in pursuing a similar career in the future.

If you would like to be part of the next scheme, starting in November 2018 and running through until April 2019, please complete the online mentor application form (it takes approximately 15mins) by the closing date: Friday 24th August, 2018

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sarah, Rebecca or Jo from the Career Mentoring Team directly on 01392 722034 or at careermentorscheme@exeter.ac.uk.

It's not too late to recruit the talent from the Class of 2018

We ran a quick poll in Facebook last month asking how many of our students secured their graduate jobs before their exams finished and how many waited until afterwards.

We were surprised that 71% waited until after their exams! It was a small sample - but it really does mean that there are currently a good number of the Class of 2018 who have only just started job hunting.

If your business could do with an injection of fresh graduate talent, we offer a range of packages to focus your budget on graduates who really want to work in the south west.

Contact us now on: 01392 241 302 for a chat about how we can help you attract the talent!

Not sure where to start?
Use our handy recruitment guide...

We've used our experience and know how to compile a quick and easy guide to attracting, selecting and retaining the graduate talent on your doorstep.

Up to £40m of funding is available for businesses to work with an academic/research organisation and a graduate on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership.

Projects can focus on any technology or industry area; and can last between 12 and 36 months, depending on what it is and the needs of your business.
