Google for Jobs

Last month saw the launch of Google for Jobs in the UK.

The new Google feature shows results from a wide range of recruitment websites, including www.gradsouthwest.com, when a user searches terms related to ‘jobs’.

Employers, you can rest assured that www.gradsouthwest.com is ‘Google for Jobs’ compliant and your adverts will appear in Google for Jobs searches – keeping you highly visible to candidates seeking work via the new function and directly via Gradsouthwest.

In fact a quick search on key terms* shows jobs advertised with www.gradsouthwest.com appearing on average twice in the top 10 and 4.5 times in the top 20 Google for Jobs positions.

If you want to target your budget on students and graduates that want to work in south west England then we are the place to go! It’s just your adverts will now also appear in Google for Jobs as part of your Gradsouthwest package - click to Post A Job now.

Recruiting IT or Engineering Graduates?

Salary Matters!

IT and engineering graduates are in demand. Big demand. So as a recruiter, you need to work extra hard to attract them to your business. See our Salary Matters! note for more details.

New Business Resources

With our strong partnerships and campus links, we're ideally placed to hear about great opportunities for businesses.

We don't want to keep this to ourselves so we've created a new business resources section on our website.

Check it out for information about how to tap into student and graduate talent, training and networking events and the launch of funding and grants for south west companies.

Final Call - Feature in our Graduate Scheme Directory!

The south west is home to companies large and small, giving recent graduates a plethora of choice.

Last autumn we produced our first SW Graduate Scheme Directory to highlight the opportunities available to graduates.

We're now updating the Directory and welcome entries from companies that offer graduate schemes. Entries are free of charge as part of our commitment to serving south west businesses and graduates.

Thank you to those that requested an entry from last month's newletter, we will be adding you in!

If you missed the call last month, then this is your last chance to request an entry for your company in this autumn's addition, please contact us

Mentors Needed!

The University of Exeter is excited to announce the expansion of their Career Mentor Scheme.

Now in its 10th year, the Career Mentor Scheme is a popular employability programme which matches current Exeter students or graduates with experienced professionals, for one-to-one support, sector insight and advice for up to 6 months. Mentors come from a range of different sectors, based both across the UK and internationally, who volunteer to mentor a student interested in pursuing a similar career in the future.

If you would like to be part of the next scheme, starting in November 2018 and running through until April 2019, please complete the online mentor application form (it takes approximately 15mins) by the closing date: Friday 24th August, 2018

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sarah, Rebecca or Jo from the Career Mentoring Team directly on 01392 722034 or at careermentorscheme@exeter.ac.uk.

It's not too late to recruit the talent from the Class of 2018

We ran a quick poll in Facebook in June asking how many of our students secured their graduate jobs before their exams finished and how many waited until afterwards.

We were surprised that 71% waited until after their exams! It was a small sample - but it really does mean that there are currently a good number of the Class of 2018 who have only just started job hunting.

If your business could do with an injection of fresh graduate talent, we offer a range of packages to focus your budget on graduates who really want to work in the south west.

Contact us now on: 01392 241 302 for a chat about how we can help you attract the talent!

We've used our experience and know how to compile a quick and easy guide to attracting, selecting and retaining the graduate talent on your doorstep.

Business Events Regional Round up

Please note: the events are listed in reverse order for reasons not entirely clear to us! Thank you for your patience while we work with our developers to resolve this!
