How-to convert interns into entry-level employees

Making the most of your interns

Last month the Institute of Student Employers (ISE) posted a blog which may be of interest to those of you who have taken on an internship or placement student for 2019/20.

Postgraduate promotion

Postgraduate Options

If you are an employer looking to up-skill staff, then you should consider postgraduate options for CPD.

If you are a postgraduate provider then now is the time to add a few extra students to your courses. We offer promotional campaigns for providers so that they can target graduates in the south west and Wales that are looking for their next step.

Getting Creative with Plymouth College of Art

We again sponsored this year's Creative CV Competition at Plymouth College of Art. We spent a good few hours judging the entries, and the winner will be announced at their Degree Show 'Friends and Family' event.

There is plenty of creative talent in our region, and we believe helping students focus on their skills in a way that is relevant to employers is part of our role in supporting graduate retention in the region.

Speed Networking

We attended our first speed networking careers event on Tuesday 21 May at the University of Gloucestershire.

Instead of the 'normal' careers fair format, employers sat at tables and had one-to-one conversations with students who moved from one employer to the next. For those who have done the business version there was no time limt and no whistle! The students got plenty of time to talk with the employers. It was a good way to provide advice to students who had a real dialogue with us about what they wanted.

Unsurprisingly, many wanted to stay in Gloucestershire, but we also spoke to quite a few wanting to return 'home' to other parts of our patch.

VenturefestSW

We had a great day out visiting VenturefestSW at Sandy Park the home of Exeter Chiefs on the 17th June.

We were pleased to see our partners STEM into Business on their stand, networked our socks off and learnt lots about future tech trends.

We met with loads of innovative companies and are hoping to see them growing and recruiting graduates over the coming years to retain more talent in our region.
