Employee Benefits Packages
We attended the SWBC's quarterly event 'Attracting & Growing Talent in a Changing World' in June and heard from a number of the region's employers looking to explore the attraction and retention of talent in the context of change; i.e. changing markets, skills availability, business development, scientific developments etc. – in order to address scientific and technological challenges, commercial opportunities, market changes and demographic patterns.
One topic discussed were benefits offered to staff to assist in achieving good levels of attraction and retention. There were a number of good ideas being used by companies, and we thought we'd share them with you, and add our own experience from seeing large numbers of job adverts too.

~ Professional Development ~ Financial Reward ~

Labour Market Outlook
The Q2 2019 Labour Market Outlook from the CIPD and the Adecco Group shows Britain’s jobs boom is set to continue in the next quarter as employers continue to shrug off the uncertainty around Brexit with new hires. However, despite the tightening labour market, this confidence has yet to translate into significant salary increases for all but new starters and those with key skills.
Here at Gradsouthwest, we are certainly seeing upward pressure on the starting salaries of STEM graduates in particular - a group that are both new starters and in shortage skills areas.

2019-20 SW Graduate Scheme Directory
Since autumn 2017 we have published an annual South West Graduate Scheme Directory.
Entries for employers are free, and we circulate it widely within Universities, Colleges and make it freely available on our website.
Our aim is simply to help students and recent graduates to be more aware of the opportunities available in the region: they really don't have to leave for London to do a grad scheme!
If you have launched a new scheme for 2019-20, or made changes to your 2018-19 scheme then please let us know so we can update the directory for this year.

Welsh Graduate Scheme Directory?
As mentioned above, we launched the South West England Graduate Scheme Directory in 2017. We did this as there was no single place detailing the region's graduate schemes, making the offers available really hard for students to find.
Following the launch of GradWales in May 2019, we would like to know the appetite for a similar Grad Scheme Directory in Wales.
We'd love to hear the thoughts of employers:
-Is there already a Directory we are unaware of? If so where?
- Do you run a scheme that you'd like included if we were to create a directory? Please send us details (your company name, website, contact email address, location and type of graduate schemes you offer)
