SW Retains Graduate Talent but Recruitment Challenges Remain

Five years after graduating, roughly two thirds of those who study in the south west remain in the region. So say figures from the latest Longitudinal Education Outcome (LEO) report.

While there are variances at institutional level, this means that there is a vast local pool of skilled graduates from a diverse range of institutions: Russell Group, Million Plus, Pre / Post 92 Group, Further Education Colleges, Specialist Providers, and University Alliance - each offering its own blend of talent.

"the challenge for many, especially SMEs, is to raise the profile of local opportunities to tempt those qualified to take them up."

However, the challenge for many, especially SMEs, is to raise the profile of local opportunities to tempt those qualified to take them up. Large companies recruit in sufficient volume for big promotional campaigns to be cost effective. For SMEs, which might recruit in single numbers every couple of years, it’s not so easy.

And this is where Gradsouthwest comes in. We champion SMEs across the south west (after all, we are one!) and offer recruitment advertising at rates every business can afford (starting at just £100+VAT). Whilst we will never be able to compete with the big job boards in terms of quantity, we can help you target your advertising budget at the right people to generate high quality applications.

Our aim is, and always has been, to help great graduates and businesses find each other because this benefits all of us who are fortunate enough to live and work in this beautiful part of the world.
