Recruitment during Covid-19

Setting aside the personal and societal impacts, snapshots from business surveys tell us what we probably already know - the impact of Covid-19 on businesses and the economy is severe.

We have seen a >90% reduction in job adverts - so we know all too well how tough it is to be in business at the moment.

We aren't alone.

Exeter Chamber of Commerce surveyed 140 businesses in the Greater Exeter area in the week leading to 22 April. Those who responded covered a wide range of sectors with 66% seeing decreased sales, 62% experiencing cashflow issues and 74% furloughing staff.

The impact of south west manufacturers is as harsh: SW Manufacturing Barometer outcomes for March-April 2020. Over 80% of manufacturing businesses are now predicting a reduction in sales in the coming months.

The good news is that some employers are recruiting. If you are, then please do let us know how we can help.

We've already committed to upgrading all standard adverts to featured during Covid-19 lock-down, and are at hand to help you recruit when you are able to do so again.

We are able to offer businesses the chance to advertise and recruit an Exeter student intern for a week (35 hours) with all associated salary costs and payroll administration covered by the University.
