Graduate Recruitment Guide

Peak recruitment season is upon us

As we reach mid-May, final exams are over or nearing completion; and students' thoughts turn to what's next and the need to get a job.

Every May we see vacancy numbers increase as employers look to tap into those about to finish their studies - the Class of 2022, who are now very much turning to job hunting.

However, this year is going to be very tough for recruiters, with a shortage of people at all levels of the employment market. We have historic low levels of unemployment (lowest since 1974!) coupled with declining numbers of people in the labour market. Cost of living increases are also starting to drive salaries upwards.

The Institute of Employment Studies reports: “This triple whammy of falling pay, more people out of work and labour shortages is only going to get worse as inflation continues to rise through the summer."

So if you are looking to recruit - and a new graduate would fit the role - the time to advertise is NOW!

As a recruiter said to us only this week:

"Just wanted to let you know that I have successfully recruited someone who will start on 23rd May – and it’s thanks to your website 😊 She applied on 2nd May so big thanks for extending the ad for those extra weeks.

I also advertised via Indeed and got more applications but they were of lower quality."

We are holding our prices for the summer - so you can still advertise with us from £100 ex VAT, and we'll happily extend the advert if you don't recruit first time.
