And breathe...

as another academic year draws to a close. Term ending brings the departure of undergraduate students from campus and the rhythm of life changes for the summer as postgraduates and researchers remain, but the shear number of people around makes for quiet spaces.

If you haven't yet recruited from the Class of 2024 you need to have your adverts live before they are all snapped up!

Did you know?

ONS say:

> the employment rate for those aged 16-64 was estimated at 74.3% - lower than last year and a decrease from the previous quarter.

> regular earnings (ex. bonuses) rose at an annual rate of 6%, the same as the previous month. With inflation stripped out, however, pay increased by 2.9% - the highest rate since August 2021.

> the number of job vacancies fell, dipping by 12,000 to 904,000 in the three months to May.

So in summary, staff availability is at its highest level since Dec2020 due to reduced demand, redundancies, and increased unemployment. Pay continues to rise as a result of a competitive labour market and the impact of minimum and living wage increases.
