  • Inward Processing Relief - Bristol

    Inward Processing Relief - Bristol

    Thursday, May 17, 2018

Inward Processing Relief (IPR) is used to obtain relief from customs duty and import VAT on goods that are imported from outside the EU for processing and subsequent re export out of the EU. The basic principle is to allow UK exporters to be more competitive by reducing their processing costs. Processes that are permitted under IPR include manufacturing, sorting and packing, repair and refurbishment.

Organisations must be authorised to use IPR and Customs impose strict obligations to comply with the IPR procedures, which are perceived to be onerous and deter many from using IPR despite the potential benefits.

This half day training course will examine the principles and terminology of IPR and some of the alternative available. It will look at the options available within IPR, the methods of operation and compliance with Customs requirements.

  • Export Controls and Licensing - Bristol

Export Controls and Licensing - Bristol

    Thursday, May 17, 2018

This export control training course explains what is often considered to be the 'black-art' of export licensing controls. Military use is now very widely defined and controls cover the export of goods, technology transfer, including the export of technology over the internet, via email, oral disclosure or technical assistance overseas.

Transgression of export control can result in Customs Seizures, logistical problems and contractual penalties. There are minimal grounds for defence if goods or technology get into the wrong hands. Directors, individuals and employees are subject to prosecution with a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.

The programme examines the current export control legislation and gives valuable guidance for compliance with the new orders and secondary legislation for both Military and Dual-Use items. It will also consider compliance with external controls, such as ITAR and EAR regulations that may be imposed on those companies with US connections or shipping goods of US origin.
