The Impact of Coronavirus on the Graduate Labour Market

Analysis from Prospects Higher Education Intelligence identifies the key ways in which the graduate labour market has been hit by the lockdown including:

  • The graduate labour market has suffered - but things are far worse for non graduates
  • Many employers have yet to make recruitment decisions for 2020, and many SMEs have no prospect of recruitment right now
  • There has been a surge in interest in postgraduate study options
  • The south west is particularly badly affected because of the predominance of tourism - hit by the double whammy of hospitality business closures and restricted travel
  • The decline of retail and service jobs may make it difficult for students to support themselves whilst studying

The full analysis, which draws on multiple data sources, is available at Prospects Luminate.

Podcasting and Digital Content Resources

While researching business support during the pandemic, we stumbled across a couple of online resources that may be useful for businesses which have been forced to move online to interact with their customers.

Predominantly written for museums they could easily translate to other sectors, especially those in leisure and tourism. We hope you find them useful.

  • The south west is particulalry badly affected because of the predominance of tourism - hit by the double whammy of hospitality business closures and restricted travel
  • The decline of retail and service jobs may make it difficult for students to support themselves whilst studying

The full analysis, which draws on multiple data sources, is available at Prospects Luminate
